Tallow is a rendered animal fat that solidifies at room temperature. Rendered fat is raw fat that is cooked until protein and water separate, leaving just the fat. It is unbleached and not deodorized with zero additives.

We believe in the nose-to-tail philosophy. Every part of the animal should be used in order to reduce waste and honor the animal. We prioritize working with farms that use regenerative and sustainable practices to help heal the environment and create healthier soil. Animal-based ingredients promote better health and economy. Just because a product is “plant-based” does not mean that it’s eco-friendly or good for you.

We also believe in a holistic approach to health and overall wellbeing for all of creation. The concept of holism is that the whole is more than the sum of its parts. We look at complete systems that work together as a whole, each part has meaning and is necessary to create a bigger picture. Therefore removing animal products from our lives goes against the original intent in nature and the food chain which we are also a part of. This has also been the wisdom that our ancestors intuitively lived by and knew to be true. Hence why we say our products are rooted in ancestral wisdom.

Tallow-based products will benefit everyone from babies to great-great grandparents, both females and males with every type of complexion including acne and oilier skin. It will in fact help to rebalance pH levels and oil production. We prioritize simplicity. Each of our products is shareable and multi-use promoting freedom from clutter and decision fatigue.

Please note that while tallow is completely safe and beneficial for all, we recommend using our fragrance-free versions on babies, pets or if you have specific allergies to any essential oils. Please see our full ingredient lists on any product that you are considering purchasing to avoid purchasing and using products that you have known allergies to.

We caution the use of our scrubs on any open acne sores or other open wounds as it can be too harsh and delay the natural healing process. Always use the scrub on skin that is fully intact.

We source our tallow from a family-owned company that has been crafting organic and pasture-raised fats since 2011. They source exclusively from transparent and sustainable farms in the U.S.A. This company renders the tallow in Colorado, Arizona or New York.

We get our essential oils and carrier oils from a company based in Washington state that sources ingredients from farms around the world to ensure the highest quality. If you’d like to know more about a specific ingredient please inquire here, and we’d love to help you find out more!

We choose to use Redmond Real Salt in our scrubs. This sea salt is mined from an ancient seabed in Utah. Free of pollutants, and nothing artificial added.

All of our products are formulated and handmade in Franklin Tennessee and Austin Texas.

As we are considered a small business, our products are not “certified organic” due to costs and red tape. However, you can rest assured that we have mindfully crafted our products with mostly organic ingredients, they are all non-GMO, free of pesticides/herbicides and any other nasties.

We do not use any synthetic materials or hormone-disrupting chemicals.

We wanted to craft our products to be the best in their class without following trends unless they prove to be legitimate. As we created our products, we realized the efficacy and experience was unmatched with a luxurious combination of both animal and plant materials. Industrialized seed oils are different from botanical plant oils such as jojoba, apricot, and argan oil. We are advocates for true holistic health and would never put any industrialized seed oils in our products. That being said, while we strongly recommend animal products for healthy living, we do not demonize plants as we believe they compliment and enhance our health as well.

While using high quality 100% grass-fed suet makes the smell less noticeable, there may still be a slight tallowy scent to our fragrance-free crème. Our other products contain essential oils which typically overpowers any tallow scent there might be. However, as our products and ingredients are natural, please note that each batch may slightly vary in scent. We do not use any synthetic or artificial fragrance. Our products are more for those who want to genuinely heal from pure and sustainable ingredients.

Some batches may end up with a more grainy texture. This is because when the tallow sets from its liquid state to its solid state, some of the saturated fat molecules cool faster, creating tiny little beads. This is not an issue to worry about as once it’s rubbed into the skin, the beads melt right in and it’s the same great moisturizer.

Our products have a shelf life between 6-12 months from the date of purchase on the countertop. Please see the individual product page for details specific to each product.

It may take some trial to figure out the right amount of product that works for you. Therefore, the frequency at which you go through the product will differ for everyone.
